As if it has always existed somewhere
Some objects evoke a feeling without you knowing exactly where it comes from. They bring to mind journeys, old houses, unique finds and materials collected over the years. Of an interior where not everything has to be new and every object seems to carry its own story.
This half sphere has something of such a find. Its full, round shape looks calm and almost timeless, while the natural star anise fruit gives it unexpected richness. The deep earth tones and irregular shapes are reminiscent of dried fruits, seeds, and botanical materials that one might find in an old market or among a traveler's collections.
Amidst all those warm hues, the moss adds small accents of green. As if nature has slowly taken possession of the object and given it its own character.
It is precisely this combination of tranquility and wonder that makes the half sphere special. From a distance, it forms one harmonious whole. As you get closer, you discover new shapes, nuances, and details.
An object that gives an interior a story
Placed on a beautiful pot, the half sphere almost takes on the appearance of a unique botanical find. On a sideboard, large table, or mantelpiece, it remains low and understated, like an object that seems to have belonged there for years.
Combine it with weathered ceramics, dark wood, natural stone, or linen, and the warm, worldly atmosphere becomes stronger. With a light stone pot, a refined contrast between old and new, rough and soft is created.
Thus, this creation does not have to be the centerpiece of a room. It adds something that is harder to capture in words: a sense of origin, curiosity, and a story that is not entirely revealed.
Crafted with care
Each half sphere is carefully handcrafted in our studio. The natural star anise fruit is applied piece by piece and combined with moss. This creates a rich surface where no two parts are exactly alike.
We deliberately use natural and untreated star anise fruit. This preserves the visibility of the various brown tones, irregular shapes, and small imperfections.
It is precisely these natural differences that give each creation its own character.

Dimensions
The half sphere is available in three sizes:
- Base of approximately 15 cm
- Base of approximately 20 cm
- Base of approximately 30 cm
Due to the applied star anise fruit, the final diameter will be approximately 4 to 5 cm larger than the base size.
Because each creation is built with natural materials, small differences in size and shape may occur.
Material & care
The half sphere is made on a sturdy, dimensionally stable, and lightweight hemispherical base. For extra stability, it is filled with plaster. The exterior is carefully finished with natural star anise fruit and moss. The bottom receives a soft fabric finish to help protect the surface.
The flat bottom receives a soft fabric finish that helps protect the surface or pot.
Use the half sphere indoors in a dry, sheltered spot. Avoid prolonged moisture, bright direct sunlight, and rough handling. Although star anise fruit is firm in shape, it remains a natural material. Therefore, handle the creation with care when moving it.
